The body is full of stories and our story begins with the body. The body can hide a character’s stories and reveal them through their gestures and mannerisms.
These creative writing prompts and story ideas will inspire you to explore the lives of characters though their physical experience of the world, as well as motivate you to write about those rich and surprising stories we carry with us wherever we go. Write about your hands changing over time; about the first time you tasted mangoes; and compose a praise song to your body and what it has gone through! These and many other prompts, will surprise and inspire you.
The Writing the Body Writing Map will help you do and imagine things you may not have thought about before... and then suggest ways to write about them! Start new stories or expand on narratives you're working on.
The Writing Map is devised and written by Shaun Levin with illustrations by William Daw. The A3 map (297x420mm) folds down to A6 (105x148mm, postcard size), and is printed on 130gsm paper in England.
