Float: Stories and Poems

Our new collection, Float, turns its gaze towards the small: bees and butterflies, moths at night, the dandelion that grows between cracks in the sidewalk.

Created by writers who gathered online to share words and attention, these poems and prose pieces are rooted in observation, in care, and in the quiet wonder of being just one creature among many.

Here, the natural world is not separate, but threaded through our homes and habits, found in the corners, under floorboards, and on the kitchen table. The pieces hold moments of awe, but also of tension: what do we do when the creatures we live alongside – rats, cockroaches, spiders – come too close? What do we lose when we fail to notice them, or when we do?

There is grief in these pages, and joy too. A deep respect for the tiny and the fleeting, for what humans make with their hands, and for what the world continues to make without us. This collection is an invitation to pay attention: to the beauty, the strangeness, and the sweetness that exists when we let the small things be.
